#30DayMapChallenge Kick-off
Special edition: make your first map in code
A special edition to get ready for the #30DayMapChallenge (1–30 November). A short talk on how a map gets made in code — data, projection, geometry, styling, export — in R and Python with Dutch open data, a live demo of an AI agent building a map (and what it gets wrong), then everyone makes their first Day 1 “Points” map from our starter repo. Bring your laptop.

What is the #30DayMapChallenge?
A month-long, community mapping challenge: every day from 1 to 30 November there is a theme, and you make and share a map for it. No sign-up, no rules on tools or data, and no need to do all 30. Pick a day or two that suit you.
- One theme a day: Points, Lines, Polygons… through to Pen & paper on 30 November
- Share each map with #30DayMapChallenge, and add it to our TU/e repo
- R, Python or any other tool is very welcome, and our starter repo has a ready-made Eindhoven dataset
- Using AI is supported (our 2026/27 theme), but not required: Day 10 is “Prompting only”, Day 27 is “New tool”
- Add one line per map saying how you used AI, e.g. “AI wrote the plotting code, I chose the data and the projection”
